I was born and raised in Northwest Iowa and have enjoyed raising my family here. After being in the healthcare field for approximately 16 years, I was inspired to change careers after treating an insurance agent who contacted me for an open position. 5 years later, I knew that to better serve my clients I need to add in the financial planning component.
Why I Chose this Profession
After going through a divorce, I had no choice but to adjust the financial goals for myself and my two boys. No better way to learn about it then to dig right into my own planning! I love getting to personally know and understand each client individually, understand what matters most to them, and help them stay organized on a consistent, long-term basis. I prioritize educating my clients about how to align what they want in life with their financial planning and goals. I like to remind clients that little steps lead to big changes, and it is never too late start in this process.
Something Unique & Different About Me
- I am a little bit of a “tomboy” but like to be girly too.
- I worked in Occupational Therapy for 16 years. My little brother had Cerebral Palsy and I was fortunate to have a “special brother” for 19 years.
- I love to travel with “no agenda” on my vacations.
- I love anything non-fiction from books to TV.
Outside of work, I’m most passionate about…
Being a Mom, going to my boys’ sports events, boating, golfing, water and snow skiing, hunting, being with friends and family and attending college sports events (including my beloved Iowa Hawkeyes). We have a miniature Poodle, Jerzie and a Labradoodle, Nova that get a lot of love and attention.
When Not in the Office, Look for Me…
Chasing my boys in baseball, basketball, trap shooting, golf and football. My boys are growing up fast and I am NOT prepared for that!
How I am Advancing My Knowledge
I attend the National Conventions, complete the continuing education requirements, watch the market trends and research change in legislation in the attempt to work ahead of the curve. I am currently completing the last leg of the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) exam and will start to prepare for the preparation of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification. I intend to further my education and studies in financial planning following divorce so I can help people who went through the same journey that I did.
